A lot of times when people think of being healthy, they automatically think of the physical body. Taking care of your physical body is extremely important. However, we should not neglect our mental and spiritual health. We should also make sure that we are spiritually, mentally, and physically healthy…it’s a total package.
For this post, I’ll be sharing helpful tips to having a healthy mind, body and soul. I pray that as you read this post, you’ll be encouraged to take better care of your overall well being.
Healthy Mind: Having a healthy mind is so important. The thoughts that run through our minds can have such a great effect on our mood, how we look at situations, and how we deal with people. If our minds are filled with junk and negative thoughts, we will eventually project that energy into the things we do. Your mind is such an important and dangerous area. If we do not have a clean mind we cannot function to the best of our abilities.
There are people who are constantly thinking negative thoughts about themselves. It’s to the point they are even putting others down with their negative words. Our words are a reflection of our thoughts, so if you are constantly saying negative things, then you need to pray and allow God to renew your mind. Watching certain TV shows, listening to certain things, and reading books filled with junk is like eating junk food. It’s mentally draining and sucks all the energy out of us.
We need to fill our minds with positive things. That means guarding what we watch, what we listen to and how we think. If that means unfollowing certain people on social media or distancing yourself from certain people, then do it. You need to allow your mind to be at a healthy space. We must allow God to take full control over the way we think. We must learn to think good thoughts for ourselves just like God thinks of us.
Jeremiah 29:11 AMP reminds us that “For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope”. Do not allow the enemy or anyone to destroy your mental health!
Healthy Body: Having a healthy body is super important for so many reasons. Not only does a healthy body help us have more energy, but it also helps our body to function properly. I believe that working out is extremely helpful in maintaining a healthy body. However, If we are constantly eating junk food there is no point in working out.
Our bodies need love and we should fill it with healthier options. We need our bodies to be in the best shape they can be, that means cutting out greasy, and processed foods. If you struggle with that… like I did, I would advise to just start small; eliminate certain foods bit by bit. Discipline your body to not eat pass a certain time and to only eat certain “junky” foods once in a while.
It’s important for us to take absolute control over what we are putting into our bodies, every little bit counts. Don’t allow the love of food to destroy your physical health!
Healthy Soul: Having a healthy soul is vital especially in the crazy world we live in. People are selling their souls without realizing the consequences. Your soul is the real you, your physical body is your exterior but your soul is the interior part of your being, that people cannot see. That’s where all of your emotions and feelings are.
Having a healthy soul means not holding on to unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, and so many other emotions that grip us. We must love even when the person doesn’t deserve it. Having a healthy soul means we don’t entertain things that will quench our spirits.
That also means surrounding yourself with Gods love and with positive people. It’s important that we constantly feed our souls with the right things and commit our souls into Gods hands.
I pray that God will help us all stay healthy and focused in every area of our lives. May we learn to think the right thoughts, eat the right foods, and feed our souls with the right things. I know trying to have a healthy mind, body and soul can be difficult and a bit of a challenge, but we can do all things through Christ.
