I know I briefly touched on trusting God in one of my prior post, but I really want to drive home the importance of trusting God in the midst of a storm. A storm is anything that overwhelmes you, causes you to stress, or disrupts your life and well-being. In life, we will all go through some very challenging storms. Some of us may feel that we have been in that storm for way too long. It seems as though the storm in your life has taken absolute control over you and has even caused you to get into a state of depression. You ask yourself, God where are you… If you’re such a powerful and mighty God why can’t you take me out of this situation… Or why did you even put me here?

You find yourself becoming very frustrated and angry with God. Speaking from experience, I know exactly how it feels to be so overwhelmed by a crisis or a storm that you want to give up. You want to be depressed and you want to be angry. However, I have learned that the bigger your storm, the bigger your break through. I have seen over and over again just how mighty and powerful this God is, so continue to trust in Him.

There is absolutely nothing God cannot do. I have seen The Lord make a way for me at the very last second, just to test my faith. I have seen God turn situations around that I thought were impossible to resolve. He has saved me countless times. He has allowed me to go through some challenging storms in order to strengthen my faith and trust level in Him.

This God that I am so crazy about is no joke. Your impossible situation or crisis is nothing to God. He has placed some of us in some tight corners in order for us to stop relying on our own strength and on people. Jeremiah 17:5 NIV reads “This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD”.

It does not matter who it is or how much that person means to you, there is NO ONE who can come through for you like God. Listen, everything you do in life you will be tested on. God is a wise God. Do you think He will allow you to lose your job because He is a mean and evil God? No! He is allowing you to go through that situation to strengthen you. I cannot tell you how much I thank God every day for allowing me to endure some painful situations. If I did not go through them how would I know just how powerful God is? I wouldn’t know how strong I am in Christ.

I want to encourage you to stop complaining and being upset with God, but rather rejoice. I know society doesn’t encourage us to be happy or give thanks when facing hardship but we do not abide by this world. We are sons and daughters of the most high God, and that is what He wants us to do! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP reminds us that “In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus”.

As you pray to God, let Him know “God I do not understand why I lost my job but I am going to thank you in advance for that amazing job on the way and for allowing me to draw closer to you”. Even if I go on 10 interviews and I still don’t get a job, I will not be frustrated. I will trust that God, you are moving behind the scenes on my behalf for your glory. As I am going through this storm I will learn to put my confidence in you.

We need to really wake up and understand just how awesome God is. So rejoice that God has put you in that storm. Do not walk around being sad and depressed (depression is a spirit and it is not from God). This is not a pity party, change your mind set, think positive and uplifting things. When your mind wants to dwell on the negative, change it. Take control over your mind. We need to speak powerful words. Declare over your life I am not going to be depressed, I am alive, I am blessed, I am powerful, I am a child of God, God is building a strong character in me, I am highly favored, and I will always win. Tell God I thank you for fighting on my behalf. We should not allow the enemy to discourage us from losing our faith and trusting in The Lord.

Tell God, regardless of how long the storm is, you will still trust Him because you know He will bring you out of this better than ever! Lord, you are all I need and more. Every situation is under your feet and I thank you that this storm will pass and I will come out victorious.

We need to thank God in advance for what He will do for us. I have learned so much through every trial, test, and struggle. The character, the confidence and the strength that God has given me is beyond description. God had to strip everything away from me in order for me to solely trust in Him. I now know that whenever a storm may come, I can always find my shelter in the Lord. I can boldly say that God has blessed me with more than I could ever imagine (God is not stingy, when He blesses you, it will be more than you can ever dream of).

I want to encourage us all to hold on, trust God, be excited, and thank Him at our darkest or lowest moments. Let’s rise up and shake off depression, anxiety, and fear. Let us gain that strength, happiness, and confidence in the Lord. I know trusting God in the midst of a storm can be difficult and a bit of a challenge but we can do all things through Christ!

Stay Blessed.
