Eating healthy does not have to be boring. I used to think smoothies were so nasty especially the vegetable and green ones. However I have learned to LOVE smoothies, they are so filling and are a great morning breakfast or afternoon pick me up. I’m also big on saving money and doing things my own way. Of course you can go outside and buy an already made smoothie, but why do that when you can make your own delicious homemade smoothie. It’s also a great way to get the kids to eat healthy, (sneak in some spinach or kale in a fruit smoothie and they won’t even realize they are eating their veggies).

So I recently purchased a Nutri Ninja (I love this thing). I think it’s a great investment especially since my old blender was messing up. However you do not need to spend a ton of money to enjoy your home made smoothies. I used my blender for a while before I got the Nutri Ninja and blenders are so much more affordable. You can find great deals under $20 so don’t be discouraged. Just make sure if you want to invest in a high end blender that you are really going to use it.

Smoothies are great; especially if you want to have a cleaner diet, below is a list of some of my favorite and simple recipes. Hope you enjoy it, and don’t forget you can remix these recipes and create your own smoothie drinks.

The Hulk:

½ of a celery stick

1 scoop of avocado (I really dislike avocado but it’s so good for you so I try and add it to my smoothies)

1 green apple (cut them in to smaller pieces so it’s easier to blend)

1 whole banana

2 handfuls of frozen mango chunks

½ cup of coconut water or juice of your choice.

Berry Mango Blast:

1 handful of raspberries, blue berries, and strawberries (I like to use frozen fruit, you can purchase them at any supermarket).

1 handful of frozen mango chunks

1 whole banana (remember you can remix this recipe if your allergic to certain fruit)

½ cup of coconut water or juice of your choice.

Strawberry Banana Bliss:

2 handfuls of strawberries

½ of banana

1 handful of blue berries

½ cup of almond milk

1 tea spoon of cinnamon

Fruit Water Detox:

So I know this is not a smoothie recipe but it’s a great drink that I love to help clean me up. (Make sure you eat! DO NOT let this be the only thing you “eat” for the day).

Cut 1 whole cucumber into slices (make sure to wash it)

Cut 1 whole lemon into slices

Cut 2 handfuls of strawberries into slices

Cut 1 whole orange into slices

Place all the fruits in a large water pitcher with water. Let it soak overnight and enjoy your fresh fruit water the next day!

I hope my easy and simple recipes are able to help you live a healthier and cleaner life. Remember to find recipes that work for you. Eating healthy can be difficult and a bit of a challenge but we can do all things through Christ.

Stay Blessed
