do what you love pic

Have you always wanted to do something but felt like you didn’t have the right resources, finances or support? Or maybe you’ve allowed fear to stop you from achieving your goals and dreams? There are so many things that can hinder us from doing what we love.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to design clothes but felt like you never had the support or maybe you’ve always wanted to go to law school but didn’t have the finances. In life, there will always be factors that will try and hinder us from living out our God given purpose but we cannot allow those factors to stop us!

I truly believe that each and every one of us were put on this earth to fulfill our God given purpose. God has placed within us unique talents and ideas that other people wouldn’t understand or appreciate. The cool thing about God is, He doesn’t create us all the same. Some people are naturally good at singing, others are great at math and numbers, and some are blessed with the gift to speak and captivate an audience. Each person is blessed with unique and special talents; it is our job to tap into those talents. We should never allow circumstances to dictate our lives. Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a film director but were too afraid to go to film school. I want to encourage you to go out there and start researching schools. Look for scholarships and grants, don’t just sit there and say “well I can’t go to film school because I can’t afford it” stop making excuses.

Learn to save money and invest in what you love, even if that means you won’t be able to go on spring break this year with all your friends. Remember this is going to benefit you in the long run; it’s all about your future. Don’t use age as an excuse either and say “oh you know me I’m too old to try and start this business, or I don’t have the time”. Yes you do, it’s not going to be easy but make time, even if that means making sacrifices. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you, if this is what you really want to do and God has laid it on your heart, by all means do it. We should also learn to do things right. Don’t enroll in school and then withdrawal your second semester because it’s “too much”…no stick with it. If you have decided to do something follow it all the way through. Make sure whatever you are investing in, is what you really want to do. You do not want to waste time and money on something you are not 100% sure on.

We should also learn to be patient. A lot of times people venture into something and then become frustrated when things take too long or when things don’t go right. We want to rush through and have everything happen now but it doesn’t work like that. Things take time and we should never be afraid to mess up or fail, get right back up and keep going. Whatever you want to do, if it’s Gods will He will provide you with the means to do it. Have patience, if you want to start your own business it’s going to take time, learn to be patient and enjoy the process of seeing your business build from the ground up.

Learn to be confident in what you want to do. Maybe you’re in your 50’s and want to go back to school, but all your family members think it’s a waste of time and you’re too old. Don’t listen to them. What is God telling you to do? Maybe God needs you to go back to school to become a teacher so you can teach the kids back in your home town. We must learn to listen to God’s direction and be confident in whatever we are doing. God did not give us all the same vision, so don’t compare yourself to other people or be envious of others success. Learn to support people; it doesn’t take away from your talents or abilities.

I want to encourage us all to trust God, work hard, and stay focused. Don’t allow fear to stop you, people are waiting for you to start that day care school, that Latin restaurant, that private equity firm, or that ministry. Whatever it is God has called you to do, go out there and do it. Maybe you’re still trying to figure out what your purpose is, talk to God, and ask Him to help reveal to you what you’re meant to do. Remember, not everyone is meant to own a business and that’s okay. Maybe you’re good at assisting or counseling people, or creating things with your hands, those are all talents and gifts. Whatever it is that you are passionate about, tap into it; don’t allow anyone’s negative attitude, circumstances, or fear to stop you. Get out there and live out your God given purpose. I know doing what you love can be scary and a bit of a challenge but we can do all things through Christ.

Stay Blessed.
