talk too much pic

Do you feel like you talk too much? You find yourself telling everyone everything?  A lot of times we can’t help it, maybe you have some exciting news or an issue you’re dealing with and you want to share it with a friend, or a few friends, or with all your friends on Facebook. But do you ever share your exciting news or issues with God?

I want to be clear, there is nothing wrong with sharing good news or talking about our problems; however we do not have to share every little detail with everyone. Many of us get overly excited and are in such a rush to share everything. I believe we should learn to be private about a lot of things; everyone does not need to know your relationship is going sour or all your family drama. I know in today’s world social media doesn’t really help us to be private, but we must learn to become more discreet.

If you are having relationship or financial issues you do not need to broadcast it to all your friends on social media or to every family member back home. Everyone may not have the same good intentions for you. I do believe you should have someone you can confide in about the problems you are facing but they should not be your first option. The first person we should go to about any situation good or bad is God. We should learn to talk to God about everything. “Lord I’m so excited about this new job, thank you for blessing me with this great opportunity” or “Lord I’m really struggling, please help me make this month’s rent”.  He knows the situation from beginning to end so why not run to Him first.

Jeremiah 33:2-4  is such a great verse it says “Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is His name,  Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish”. Your friends and family can only help you so much, some don’t even help at all, they rather make the situation worse. I truly believe when we run to God first about everything we are facing He will bring us the right solutions. We do not have to go through challenges alone; He wants us to come to Him first.  Some of us are so quick to run and tell the whole world our problems instead of running to the one who has all the answers.

We must practice praying to God first about any issue. Talk to Him just as you would talk to your best friend; allow God to become your rock and go to person. I know a lot of people may think “but when I speak to God I don’t hear anything” that’s because right after you pray you do not give time to wait on the Lord. Some of us run straight to our phones and don’t allow God to speak to us.

Another reason we can’t hear from God is because we do not know His voice. When you spend a lot of time with someone, you are able to identify their voice. When a child gets lost in a mall, and their mother calls for them, the child is instantly able to recognize their mother’s voice. The same with God, God speaks to us all the time, you know that still small voice in your head? That’s God trying to speak to us, (but be careful the devil also speaks to us as well, his voice comes with a lot of pressure and force, Gods voice and prompting will always be calm and still).

God is always speaking to us sometimes He tells us don’t take that train there are going to be delays, or don’t go to that event something may happen. God speaks to us all the time and everything that He tells us is for our own good. He wants to protect us from a lot of mistakes and bless us with the best but because we cannot hear from Him we end up doing things in our own accord. We then question God and ask, “God why did this happen to me”? Umm… maybe because you didn’t listen to Him the many times He tried to warn you about something.

God wants to have a daily relationship with us. He wants us to talk to Him as much as we talk to our friends and loved ones. Last time I checked my friends don’t breathe life into me and wake me up every morning, so why not spend time with the one who does. Why not give God that time and respect He deserves. God isn’t asking for much, all He wants is to build a relationship with us and create a fellowship with Him. You may think “well I don’t want to talk to God about this situation because I’m embarrassed by it” or “I feel so unworthy to come to Him”.  Listen as mighty and powerful as God is, He is also so gentle and understanding. He already knows about the situation, He knows we are weak and will make mistakes, but He wants us to come to Him and figure out a solution through Him. It is also a sign that you respect His judgment and opinion. I would rather seek the advice of the one who created the entire universe and everyone in it, then anyone else.

We must learn to give everything unto the Lord. The enemy will try and make you feel as though God doesn’t care about what’s going on in your life or He wouldn’t understand what you are facing, but that’s a lie. God loves you and wants to be involved in every area of your life. He wants to become your best friend. Let’s learn to talk to God first before our friends/family about everything we are facing. Let us aim to hear Gods voice because we spend time with Him and talk to Him constantly.

I want to encourage you and even myself to spend more time talking with God. Allow God to become your first solution instead of your last resort. I know trying to talk to God first instead of your family and friends about your issues can be difficult and a bit of a challenge, but we can do all things through Christ.

Stay Blessed
